What is Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) and How Can It Help Me?

ree

At Blue Ridge Speech & Voice, our goal is to give you the best support possible—not just during sessions, but in between them too. That’s where Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) can help.

What is RTM?

Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) is a program that allows your speech-language pathologist to stay connected to your progress between visits. Using a secure digital app or website, you can log your home practice, watch helpful treatment videos, answer quick check-in questions, and share updates about your symptoms or voice.

Your therapist reviews this information and provides feedback, so your therapy plan can be adjusted in real time instead of waiting until your next appointment.

Why is RTM Helpful?

  • Consistency matters. RTM encourages daily practice, which is one of the most important factors in therapy success.

  • Faster feedback. If you hit a roadblock, your SLP can catch it quickly and suggest changes instead of waiting weeks.

  • Confidence building. Seeing your progress logged over time can be motivating and help you feel more in control of your therapy journey.

  • Extra support. Each month, you’ll also have a short check-in call or video session with your therapist to keep you on track.

How Much Time Does It Take?

You don’t need to log in every single day. Most people find that practicing and recording updates a few times per week is plenty. Each entry only takes a couple of minutes, and once a month we’ll have a short check-in (usually under 15 minutes) to review your progress and adjust your plan if needed.

Is There a Cost?

RTM may be billed to your insurance like other therapy services. If any part of the program isn’t covered, we’ll let you know up front. Participation is always your choice.

Do I Have to Participate?

No—RTM is completely optional. You can decide to participate now, later, or not at all. If you try it and decide it isn’t right for you, you can stop at any time without affecting your ability to continue therapy.

Ready to Get Started?

We’re excited to offer RTM as a way to give our clients more support, encouragement, and flexibility in their therapy journey. If you’d like to learn more, ask your speech-language pathologist at your next visit—or let us know when completing your intake paperwork.
